Varanasi: Haj pilgrims this year would wear a special 'tasbih' (rosary) made of beads in the colors of the Indian flag to declare their unique Indian identity, when they leave for Mecca in Saud Arabia. The Islamic Foundation has arranged for as many as 10,000 tricolour rosaries .

These rosaries would be distributed to Haj pilgrims at the temporary Haj House, which is expected to come up at Cultural Complex in the city's Chowkaghat area.

President of IFI, SM Khursheed said "We decided to make a special tricolur tasbih for Haj pilgrims to give them a unique identity. Interestingly, these rosaries will be embellished with seven pieces of glass and the tricolour beads are being made by seven members of the foundation.

Talking about the significance of the number seven Khursheed said, "The number 'seven' is significant as during tawaf (circling) of the holy Khana-e-Kaaba in Mecca, Haj pilgrims need to circumambulate the Kaaba, which is the most sacred site in Islam, seven times in counter-clockwise direction."
